A tourist visa is an absolute requirement to visit Nepal. The good news is that a visa for Nepal is easy to apply for, and it can be obtained at the airport or brought prior. The details below are essential to know:

Tourist Visa

A Tourist Visa can be obtained at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport or at the border points such as Sunauli, and Kakerbhitta, this is the type of Visa that most people will go for. You can also apply for and receive an e-visa on the internet.

Visa Fees

You roughly pay 30 USD for the 15-day visa, 50 USD for the thirty-day visa, and 125 USD for the ninety-day visa. Most trekkers will get a 30-day visa.

Extension

In case you want to spend more time there, it’s possible to do so at the Department of Immigration in either Kathmandu or Pokhara, for a nominal fee. It is possible to extend it by 30 days, twice, thus allowing a longer stay of up to 90 days.

For a person who is only passing through Nepal and intends to exit the airport for some time, there is a non-extendable Visa for 5 USD, valid for 24 hours.

Application for a Visa

• For an E- visa, kindly visit the Nepal Immigration official website, Fill out the application form, provide a photograph, and pay. Print the confirmation allowing you to pass through immigration once you arrive.
• If you want to obtain one upon arrival, fill out the form in kiosks located at the airport or do it online in advance for convenience sake.
