Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek - Trip Information
The Everest Base Camp luxury trek is a captivating 130-kilometer-long journey that leads you through the enchanting terrains of Everest National Park and into the high-altitude beauty of the Khumbu Valley.
On this trip, you will experience the rich terrain of Nepal landscape from the lush green agricultural fields and thick conifer forests blooming with rhododendrons to the sandy barren highlands and the breathtaking glacial landscapes of high peaks.
Kala Patthar at 5644 m will mark the highest achievement of our entire trip while Gorak Shep at 5180 m will be our most elevated overnight stop.
Everest Base Camp is located in the tropical zone, so the climate here has a pronounced monsoon character. Here, the heavy monsoon rains begin in early June and proceed until mid-September. During this time, up to 80% of the total annual precipitation falls.
The winter months of December, January, and February in the Everest area are very cold where the strong winds cause temperatures to drop to -30°C.
Thus, the most comfortable time for the Everest Base Camp luxury trek is the warm months of the dry season: autumn (mid-September to November) and spring (March-May).
At this time, the weather in Khumbu is very stable – not cold and not hot, with little rain. In spring, the entire Khumbu terrain is painted with bright colors of green, red, pink to yellow while the slopes are enveloped with huge trees.
In autumn, the nature amazes with its lush vegetation. The most breathtakingly stunning panorama of the peaks and surrounding landscapes hails us every step.
The Everest Base Camp luxury trek is not a hike but a classic trekking journey that involves long walks at high altitudes from 3000 m to 5600 m with each day involving 5 to 7 hours of walking on diverse landscapes. Thus the journey is moderately demanding but it does not contain technically difficult sections.
In addition, the route has good infrastructure. Every 5-6 hours of the way there are villages with small to larger modern guesthouses. Only a few villages have basic mountain shelters such as Lobuche, Pheriche, Phorrtse, and Gorak Shep.
In the rest of the settlements, we have arranged premium lodgings where you will spend comfortable and restful warm nights and pleasant mornings.
The Everest Base Camp luxury trek is designed for those who like the fusion of trekking excitement while indulging in luxurious accommodations. It is perfect for those families who are eager to expose their children to nature, but want them to spend the time in the safety of the well-appointed hotels and lodges.
Who says hot coffee, organic food, and sushi are impossible at high altitudes? We have made this possible in our luxury trek making it also suitable for adults and seniors who like to enjoy the best moments of their lives all while surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.
We understand that after a strenuous day of hiking, you will appreciate the comforts of a hot shower, comfortable beds, quality meals, and fast internet. We have placed every possible effort to make sure these facilities are available wherever possible.
So, if you are a healthy trekking enthusiast capable of walking for a few hours, we welcome you to join our expedition.
Yes, our Everest Base Camp luxury trek incorporates comfort and luxury, but it is important to understand that comfort and luxury will not protect you from the high-altitude conditions of the Khumbu Valley.
The reality is that the reduced oxygen levels here can lead to mild altitude sickness in some individuals, though not everyone. Starting from our day in Namche, some of our clients reported mild headaches and shortness of breath, while others experienced fatigue and weakness.
To address these issues, we have rest days and acclimating hikes in Namche and Dingboche. Still, even after these precautions, some may still encounter mild discomfort. If this occurs, please inform our guide immediately and rest in your current location.
If conditions remain to be the same, then a descent to a lower zone may be necessary. Taking Diamox can speeden up the acclimatization process, so consider using this medication when you are in Kathmandu. Additionally, from Lukla onward, please drink as much water as you can even if you do not feel thirsty.
Yes, the nights on our Everest Base Camp luxury trek will be very comfortable, but you must not forget that you still need to walk for a minimum of 5 to 7 hours each day, depending on the day’s goals.
Therefore, for this trek, you must not be a sedentary person but you also don’t need to be an elite athlete to participate. Engaging in moderate walking or running in the mornings and evenings, or choosing to take the stairs instead of the elevator for a couple of months can prepare your legs for the long hours of trekking.
You can also prepare physically by enjoying activities you love, such as dancing or exercising.
Our Everest Base Camp luxury trek provides you accommodation on a twin-sharing basis in premier five-star hotels in Kathmandu such as Hyatt Regency, Marriott Hotel, Hilton, and Aloft, all known for their exceptional comfort and luxury. If you want a single room, no problem, we can also manage it for you at a minimal additional fee.
During the trekking portion, you will stay in expensive premium lodges like Khumbu Resort in Lukla, Yeti Mountain Home in Phakding, and Namche and Dingboche Resort in Dingboche.
We will also make every effort to ensure you are accommodated in the most comfortable mountain lodges available in villages where premium options are limited.
As for meals, you will enjoy a delicious, high-quality breakfast in Kathmandu while three meals – breakfast, lunch, and dinner with tea- will be provided daily during hiking.
The premium lodges offer quality food options from pasta and pizza to chocolate cake, pie, pudding, and organic dishes for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
However, in the simpler accommodations of some villages, the meal selection will be more limited to Nepali Dal Bhat, momos, noodles, and pizza.
For your transportation during our Everest Base Camp luxury trek, we will provide a private tourist vehicle for all international and domestic airport transfers, including the journey to Manthali Airport.
Additionally, we also offer round-trip airfare for the Lukla flight from Kathmandu, as well as the connecting flight from Manthali if needed. An optional helicopter service is also available for flights between Kathmandu and Lukla at USD 550 per traveler.
For communication, when you are in Kathmandu, you can purchase SIM cards from local networks such as Ncell or Namaste for your mobile phone. The network signal is stable up to Tengboche but may become unreliable beyond that village.
You can also utilize mobile 4G internet in regions where WiFi is not usable. Most premium accommodations offer free and fast WiFi. If you stay in basic mountain lodges, you will need to use prepaid WiFi services from Everest Link or Airlink or pay an additional fee of 3 to 5 US dollars to the lodge owner for WiFi access.
In high-end hotels, you can charge your devices in your room, while in mountain lodges, charging may only be available in the common dining area for an extra cost of 2 to 3 US dollars.
Insurance for the Everest Base Camp luxury trek is mandatory, after all, the Everest Base Camp pathway is all about mountains and tropical climate. Such components can negatively affect your health and you also run the risk of getting sunstroke or frostbite.
In addition, you can injure your leg, and get altitude sickness. Heavy physical exertion, sudden temperature changes, high radiation levels – all this often leads to an exacerbation of chronic diseases. Therefore, before this trip, you must consult a doctor and take out an insurance policy.
Please notify in clear words to your insurance company about your hiking trip in the mountains, and indicate the altitude up to 6000 m. and the most important point, mention medical transport evacuation by helicopter to your company.
No matter what you read on the internet, you must know that independent and solo hiking is currently prohibited in Nepal. All trips must be conducted through an authorized travel company, such as ours, and must include a licensed local guide.
We also need to have the entry permit for the National Park of Sagarmatha and the entry fee for Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Municipality. Each hiker will need to pay Rs 3000 for the parking permit and an additional 2,000 rupees for the municipality fee. The costs and procedures for acquiring these permits are incorporated into our service package.
